Drumming is fun and invigorating
One does not need a drum to join us in circle. We love to integrate different sounds and instruments including tambourines, rattles, whistles and more. Bring what you have even if that is simply YOU! We honor all beings on this earthly path! Come play with us!
Important note: No manual, home study course or even workshop training program will ever be totally complete; there will always be more to learn. Our intention is simply to help you begin the journey.
Where you end up, depends on you!
Drumming seems to have been a part of every ancient culture around the globe. They have been a part of my life since I was a child. Drumming is a very significant practice in most shamanic or mystical teachings. The first known drum circle, according to Wikipedia, was in 5500 B.C. in China. A drum circle is really any group of people gathered together for the purpose of playing drums and percussions. Although many include rhythmic dance, chanting, and other instruments.
Soul Practices drum circles are a combination of shamanic teachings, free form drumming and community rhythmic events, that include a healing intention or shamanic journey.
Whether you have been drumming your whole life or have never picked up a drum before you have the ability to drum in circle with anyone. Led by a skilled facilitator, even a novice can find harmony and balance within the circle, creating a sense of musical alchemy. This circle will be led by Teri Williams. Guest story tellers and drummers welcome! Please message me if interested!
Drums have been included in ritual, and ceremony, have been used as communication tools between tribes, as meditation (shamanic journeying) for entertainment and so much more. Drums were made from animal skins being stretched over a frame of some type. Today, there are synthetic drums that have the same if not better sound quality than any animal hide drum.
ANYONE CAN DRUM!
We begin with a simple beat, moving into one a bit more complicated, ending with a powerful uprising of beats and harmonies. Each one is unique in that there is an element of shamanic healing present, an intention of sending sacred waves out to the universe!
My own drumming experience began with I was very young. I studied drums. then flute as a child through my teenage years, picking it back up as I advanced my shamanic studies. Several years ago I made my own drum with a horse hide. It has been with me on many journeys. Today, I use synthetic buffalo drums made by Remo drums. They have excellent sound quality and are cruelty free. I think my animal spirit guides are very happy with that!
It is my hope that you will find joy and healing among the circles.
We will begin each circle with a brief shamanic meditation and introduction and move into the drumming experience. We plan to hold two drum sessions.
